Unit 03: Differentiation
Differentiation is a mathematical process of finding the rate at which one variable changes with respect to another variable. It is the process of determining the instantaneous rate of change of a function at a given point. In simpler terms, differentiation helps us to calculate how quickly a function is changing at any particular point.
Derivative of a Function:
Distinguish between independent and dependent variables.
Estimate corresponding change in the dependent variable when independent variable is incremented (or decremented).
Explain the concept of a rate of a change.
Define derivative of a function as an instantaneous rate of change of a variable with respect to another variable.
Define derivative or differential coefficient of a function.
Find derivative by first Principle, by ab initio method, by definition.
Differentiate y=x^n, where n belongs to integers, from the first principles (the derivation of power rule.
